Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 June 2026
This policy explains what personal information AuctionsNOW collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Who we are
AuctionsNOW is a marketplace and live auction platform operated by AuctionsNOW Pty Ltd, based in Euroa, Victoria, Australia ("AuctionsNOW", "we", "us"). We are the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach our privacy contact at admin@auctionsnow.com.au.
2. Information we collect
- Account details - your name, email address, mobile number, and (for businesses) trading name, ABN and GST status.
- Listing & transaction information - the items you list or buy, offers, bids, invoices, sales contracts and related correspondence.
- Verification information - data used to confirm your identity, ownership of goods and bank details for payouts.
- Social sign-in information - if you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook (see section 3).
- Usage & device data - log data, IP address, browser/device type and pages viewed, used to keep the platform secure and working.
- Communications - questions, comments, enquiries and support messages you send through the platform.
3. Signing in with Google or Facebook
If you choose to create an account or sign in using Google or Facebook, we receive only the basic profile information you authorise the provider to share - typically your name, email address and profile picture. We use this solely to create or access your AuctionsNOW account.
- We do not receive your social account password.
- We do not post anything to your Google or Facebook account, and we do not access your friends, contacts, posts or messages.
- You can revoke our access at any time from your Google account (Security → Third-party access) or Facebook (Settings → Apps and Websites).
4. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
- To operate the marketplace - publishing listings, processing offers, bids, sales, invoices and payouts.
- To verify identity and ownership, prevent fraud, and keep the platform safe and secure.
- To send service messages, including mobile verification codes by SMS and transactional emails.
- To provide support, resolve disputes and meet our legal and tax obligations.
- With your consent or as permitted by law, to send you alerts and updates you can opt out of at any time.
5. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With the other party to a transaction - once you make an enquiry, offer or sale, the relevant contact details are shared with the buyer or seller to complete the deal. Contact details are not shown publicly on listings.
- With service providers who help us run the platform (for example hosting, SMS delivery, email delivery and payment facilitation), bound to use it only for those services.
- Where required by law - to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
6. Third-party services we use
We rely on trusted providers to deliver parts of the service, including cloud hosting and storage, SMS delivery, email delivery, and social sign-in (Google and Facebook). Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy. We share only what is necessary for that service to function.
7. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and secure the platform against abuse. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.
8. Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and the regulator of any eligible data breach as required by law.
9. How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then for as long as required to meet legal, tax, accounting and dispute-resolution obligations, after which we delete or de-identify it.
10. Your rights and deleting your data
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you. You may also ask us to delete your account and associated personal information (subject to records we must retain by law).
To make a request - including to delete your data, or to disconnect a Google or Facebook sign-in - email admin@auctionsnow.com.au with the subject "Privacy request". We will respond within a reasonable time and, where required, within the timeframes set by the Australian Privacy Principles.
11. Children
AuctionsNOW is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version in force is the one published at this URL, with the "last updated" date shown above. Material changes will be notified through the platform where appropriate.
